Wearable Trend from Fashion Week: Velvet
When I first noticed the influx of velvet jackets/pants/suits/etc., I assumed (too quickly) that it was merely another manifestation of the rich textures that have been dominating fall/winter collections for years now. Really, if there’s a “most appropriate” time to wear a red velvet jacket, it’s in the dead of winter. Regardless, as the collections rolled out in Paris for spring/summer, I noticed the velvet stuck around. Some (bolder) brands went as far as layering velvets. If this isn’t indication that you should be wearing velvet, I don’t know what is. Check out some pieces below:
Diesel Black Gold
Velvet is bold. However, you may have noticed that more of the above brands keep it simple. I highly recommend that you do the same thing. Solid colors and a conservative fit will be sufficient.
